Mozart & Dvořák
MARC NEIKRUG Poems for Solo Piano (world premiere)
Commissioned by Wei Luo with assistance from the Gilmore International Keyboard Festival.
MOZART String Quintet in C Major, K. 515
DVOŘÁK Piano Quintet in A Major, Op. 81
The Escher String Quartet performs two remarkable works. The first, Mozart’s String Quintet in C Major, K. 515, includes an additional viola—an instrument Mozart loved to play and to write for. The second, Dvořák’s Piano Quintet, features pianist Wei Luo and is famous for its second movement, the folk-tune-inspired Dumka, which soars between slow and fast tempos and feelings of joy and melancholy. Luo opens the program with the world premiere of the solo piano piece Poems, written for her by Marc Neikrug
